By the 1990's Lundbeck’s International distribution and marketing contacts were well established around Europe, the UK, Canada and South Africa.

Lundbeck researched and identified an opportunity to enter the Australasian market and in January 1997 Lundbeck Australia was established by a handful of experienced and dedicated employees. It started as a trading company with two conventional antipsychotics Fluanxol (flupenthixol) and Clopixol (zuclopenthixol) as the sole products for marketing.

Today, Lundbeck Australia employs approximately 80 people locally and markets Lexapro (escitalopram) an SSRI for depression and anxiety disorders, Ebixa (memantine) a treatment for Alzheimer's Disease as well as Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol) and Fluanxol (Flupenthixol).  Lundbeck Australia strengthens the company's position as Specialist in Central Nervous System disorders.

In the future it is also planned to market products that will be effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease along with other improved antidepressants and antipsychotics.

It is part of the Lundbeck Australia philosophy that our role with the medical profession is one of education and support. For this reason from our establishment in 1997 we have ensured that our activities and resources are focused on providing information, educational books and meetings.

By providing educational and supportive platforms for both learning and teaching we aim to develop an understanding with treating physicians and care providers which helps us identify areas that require more focus, or future research.
